FTC sends second payment to people who paid for cash advances
What the FTC says about this program
The FTC is sending a second round of payments to people who paid FloatMe for instant cash advances.
FloatMe promised quick and free cash advances to people who downloaded the app and paid a monthly fee. The FTC sued FloatMe, alleging that the company often provided less than the promised amount and charged a fee for instant access. The FTC also alleged that FloatMe lied to customers who complained and made it difficult for customers to cancel.
To settle the lawsuit, FloatMe agreed to change how it does business and paid $3 million. The FTC is using that money to provide refunds to eligible FloatMe customers.
The FTC first sent payments in September 2024, which resulted in more than $1.5 million in refunds. Because there is still money remaining in the fund, the FTC is sending 255,739 payments totaling more than $1 million to people who accepted their first payment.
If you get a check, please cash it within 90 days.
