Northwestern Memorial Healthcare has agreed to pay $3,883,000 to settle a class action lawsuit for alleged violations of the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) by collecting biometric data without consent.

• You scanned your finger on an automated dispensing cabinet while employed at a Northwestern Medicine location in Illinois
• You did not execute a written consent prior to your biometric data collection between June 6, 2013, and October 22, 2024

How much is the payout?

Expected Award per Class Member : Approximately $250

Do I need to submit a claim to receive a payment?

A claim submission is not required:

• If you received a settlement notice, you will automatically receive a payment in the form of a check
• Class members can update address information or select a digital payment option through the settlement website using their Notice ID and PIN

$3.88 Million settlement fund

The settlement fund of $3.883 million will cover various expenses and payments:

• Attorneys' fees: Up to 37.5% of the settlement fund plus expenses
• Service awards to class representatives of up to a total of $30,000

When is the Northwestern Memorial Healthcare payout date?
