Current Status

Claims are open. The court granted preliminary approval on September 9, 2026, and email notices went out starting October 7, 2026. The claim deadline is January 5, 2027 (11:59 p.m. Eastern for online claims, or postmarked by that date for mailed forms). The settlement is not final yet: the final approval hearing is set for January 12, 2027, and no payments go out unless the court approves the settlement.

What Changed Recently?

Judge James C. Mahan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada preliminarily approved the settlement on September 9, 2026, in Carbonell v. SeatGeek, Inc., Case No. 2:24-cv-02087-JCM-NJK. The Settlement Administrator began emailing notices, each carrying a Login ID and PIN, on October 7, 2026, and the official settlement website opened the online claim form.

The lawsuit was filed on November 7, 2024. It alleged that SeatGeek showed Nevada event tickets at prices without its fees through several checkout screens and added the fees only on the final order-review screen, which the plaintiff claimed violated Nevada's ticket resale disclosure law (NRS 598.39795) and the Nevada Deceptive Trade Practices Act (NRS 598.0915). The complaint also alleged that SeatGeek showed all-in prices for events in states such as New York and California, where similar laws were in force. SeatGeek denies the allegations and any wrongdoing, and the court has not ruled on who was right.

Who Qualifies?

The settlement class covers all individuals who:

  • bought electronic tickets to events in Nevada,
  • through seatgeek.com or the SeatGeek mobile app,
  • between November 7, 2020 and May 12, 2025, and
  • were charged fees on those purchases.

The class turns on where the event was held, not where the buyer lives, so out-of-state visitors who bought tickets for a Las Vegas concert, show or game on SeatGeek are covered on the same terms as Nevada residents. The notice excludes the presiding judges and their families, SeatGeek and its affiliates, officers, directors, agents, attorneys and employees, Class Counsel, and anyone who opts out.

How Much Can You Get?

There is no fixed payment. Each approved claimant receives a pro rata share of the $7,750,000 fund, calculated from the total fees SeatGeek retained on that person's purchases, so a buyer who paid more in fees receives a larger share.

Several costs come out of the fund before it is divided: settlement notice and administration, attorneys' fees and litigation costs (Class Counsel will ask for no more than one-third of the fund, about $2.58 million, and the court may award less), and a service award of up to $5,000 for the class representative. The settlement website has not published an estimated per-claimant amount; the final figure depends on how many people file valid claims and how much each paid in fees.

Claimants choose how to be paid: PayPal, Venmo, Zelle or paper check. Checks become void 180 days after they are issued.

What Proof Is Required?

No receipts or order confirmations are requested, but the online claim form cannot be opened without a Login ID and PIN. The settlement website says both appear at the top left of the email notice. People who did not get a notice, or cannot find it, can ask the Settlement Administrator for their Login ID and PIN through the official settlement website's contact page by giving their full name and mailing address.

A paper claim form can be downloaded from the settlement website and mailed instead. Because the payment is based on fees SeatGeek retained, the administrator works from SeatGeek's purchase records rather than from documents the claimant supplies.

What Is the Deadline?

The claim deadline is January 5, 2027. Online claims must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Eastern time that day; mailed claim forms must be postmarked by January 5, 2027. The other dates in the case:

  • Class Counsel's fee request filed and posted: November 22, 2026
